1. How much recording time do I get on the 1GB card?
Video yield rates for the 1GB card are:Highest Quality Setting (720×480, 30fps, high quality): approximately 45 mins
Lowest Quality Setting (320×240, 15fps, low quality): approximately 7.5 hrs
For a 2GB card, double these figures (i.e 90 minutes in the highest quality setting).
2. What is the largest card size I can use?
The biggest SD card you can use is a 2GB card.
3. How long will the batteries last?
This depends a lot on the type of batteries you use. A good set of Ni-MH rechargeable batteries will last approximately 4-5 hours and a good set of Lithium rechargeable batteries will last approximately 10 hours.
4. Does the POV1 shoot in widescreen?
Yes, you can select the 720×400 resolution setting which will record in widescreen.
5. Is a wide angle or telphoto lens available?
Optional lens’s are not currently available, however they are under development and will be available soon.
6. Is the POV1 waterproof?
Yes, the entire system is waterproof, including the recording unit. The POV1 is rated to 1m for 15 minutes continual submersion and it can be used for most surface watersports. We are currently developing a customized waterproofing system for surfing which will be able to withstand the higher short term pressures experienced by surfers in a wipe out.
7. Do I need a video camera to record onto?
No, the POV1 is a complete system that comes with it’s own recording device that records the video onto an SD memory card.
8. Does the POV1 record audio?
Yes, the POV1 has a microphone embedded into the cable that joins the helmet camera to the recording unit. It has been specially designed to cut-out wind noise and you can adjust the sensitvity to suit your use (i.e for motorsports, reduce the microphone sensitivity).
You also have the option of plugging in your own microphone, via the 3.5mm audio input jack.
